Netiquette

The following is an excerpt from the 'Rules of Order' of the Drullian parliament. The language may seem slightly archaic (it is an extraterrestrial language, after all), but the rules have been adopted for our forum and are binding for all participants:

RULES OF ORDER OF THE DRULLIAN PARLIAMENT:

  1. Choose carefully the words that deck thy speech. It is of great worth to cultivate thy words.
  2. Utter thine opinions with due regard of law and good custom. Let not thy tongue serve as vehicle of insult, defamy nor slander. Of none is it demanded that they share thine opinion.
  3. Let thy speech be fair and drawn to fact. Let not thy speech be the vehicle of personal attacks on the integrity of others. If thy speech violates these lofty principles, expect that thy speech be stricken from the records or that thy speech be muted in these halls.
  4. Let it be known that thy speech in written form doth not suffice to convey thy tone nor mood. Take care that thy words are well chosen, lest others refuse to hear them for they mistake the tone.
  5. Let thy speech follow sufficient thought. To rethink sharpens thy thought and blunts the edges of thy speech. So will thy speech better find approval among thy listeners.
  6. Admit freely when thy speech is in error. To insist on that which is patently false betrays a poverty of mind and spirit.
  7. Sharp thought gives birth to a precise choice of words. Guard thy tongue that it doth not make false assertions. Dispute not thy foe but the arguments of thy foe with thine own arguments. It is better to hold thy tongue when it hath no argument.
  8. Let not thy speech trample thy foe when he is in error. For thy speech will not always be without error.
  9. Let thy thought find points of agreement with the thoughts of others even where the agreement is not complete. Thy speech will require less breath and foster a more fertile exchange of thought.
  10. Direct not thy speech to one listener, but rather all listeners in the hall.

LET IT BE PUBLICLY KNOWN:
