Tips & Tricks

Top 5 problem solving for 3Dfx Patch

1) "LOGITIECH WINGMAN EXTREME DIGITAL is not detected."

You'll get this message when using a digital joystick (Wingman, Sidewinder, Millennium, etc.) with a DOS based game.

Solution:
Under Windows 95, the joystick must be removed from the system control panel and then it will be detected correctly.

2) "With my VOODOO RUSH graphics card, the cockpit filckers."

Solution:
The environment variable on your computer was set to: 'SET SST96_FORCE_TRIPLE=1'. This will improve the performance of Archimedean DynastyŽ, but it is not compatible with AD when the cockpit is ENABLED. If you want to see the cockpit and eliminate the flicker, then type 'SET SST96_FORCE_TRIPLE=' at the DOS prompt before starting AD.

3) "My VOODOO RUSH chipset is not detected and AD fails to start."

Solution:
You need to update the Glide driver to version 2.43. This can be downloaded from www.3Dfx.com. The 3Dfx patch for AD contains version 2.42 (the latest version available at the time) and it has problems detecting the VOODOO RUSH chipset.
The file 'glide2x.ovl' must be replaced by version 2.43 from 3dfx.

4) "The VOODOO chipset (Diamond Monster) is not detected."

"AD 3Dfx does not work on my Orchid Righteous card."

Solution:
Try using the file 'glide2x.ovl' which came with your graphics card. One user fixed this problem by replacing Glide 2.42 found in AD's 3Dfx patch with the older version that was bundled with his Monster card. Also, 3Dfx announced that Glide 2.43 for the VOODOO chipset should solve most of the problems of detection. You can download it from their site at www.3Dfx.com.
